What work passes for foreigners to do internship in Singapore?
For foreign students who have currently studied in Singapore, if they hold valid student pass and studied in a list of approved institutions that MOM allows its students to work, then they can work without applying for a work permit. Foreign exchange students who have been studying in Singapore are not allowed to work using their student pass. For all others, there are three available options to apply for an internship in Singapore that are suitable for each specific case: Work Holiday Program, Training Work Permit, and Training Employment Pass. Eligibility guidelines are set by the MOM and can be consulted on their website.
Work Holiday Program
The Work Holiday Program focuses on students aged around 18 to 25 and is valid for a period of up to six months. Applicants have to be undergraduates or graduates of accrediting universities and colleges in the US, Germany, France, Hong Kong, Japan, Switzerland, New Zealand, the UK or, Australia. There are no restrictions on particular types of a job but conventional registration is required for applicants practicing disciplines such as pharmacy, medicine, dentistry, law or architecture. The renewal is not available for this type of pass and the family members are not allowed to accompany the pass holder. This program has a disadvantage that it limited to a maximum of 2000 pass holders at any time. Hence, if the number is exceeding, your application may not be approved.

Training Work Permit
The Training Work Permit aims for unskilled or semi-skilled foreigners wishing to fulfill training in Singapore for a period of up to 6 months. Eligible applicants are unskilled or semi-skilled foreign trainees or foreign students who are studying in educational institutions in Singapore with training as part of their course. The employer is the one who applies for this type of pass. They may be subject to quota and levy for each Work Permit holder and must provide medical insurance for interns. This pass is a nonrenewable pass. The pass holders have to wait until six months after the last one expires or gets canceled to apply for a new one.

Training Employment Pass
The Training Employment Pass is for eligible foreign students or foreign trainees who wish to undergo training in Singapore. If you are foreign students or trainees, there are three requirements for you to be eligible to apply. The first requirement is the training attachment in Singapore has to be a part of your course of study. The second requirement is that you must be studying at an acceptable institution or earn a fixed monthly salary of at least $3,000. You must be sponsored by a well-established Singapore-registered company is the third requirement. This pass is valid for up to 3 months and is not renewable. The employers need to apply for this pass and no foreign worker levy or quota is required.
